We did not invent GOTW; it was initially a presentation that sometimes took an hour to prepare. This presentation had existed in several teams in other companies, and a colleague just brought this into our company. To this day, we have no idea who the original inventor of the concept is. Seeing how much time it took to collect and make a fun presentation, we decided to automate the process and make it available to everyone.

The game has evolved over time to be its own thing, as some choices had to be made when creating a web app game.

The base functionality, for small teams, will always be free. Should this be a success, a business model will be implemented to cover the costs of running and developing the service. In general, we are not fans of ads but are not ruling anything out.

This is beta software from a single developer, so please do not use this for sensitive data.

We use industry-standard encryption to protect your data. We do not share your data with third parties, other than some basic analytics, and are GDPR compliant.

If a GIF is uploaded that you own the rights to, please contact us, and we will remove it. We are not responsible for the content uploaded by users, but we will do our best to remove any content that is not allowed, inappropriate, offensive, or violates copyright.

At the end of the year, say week 50 or something, we propose you do an edition where you submit a GIF and caption pertaining to the whole year. After that the competition is halted until the next year starts.
